This week, Year 2 headed into the woods for one of their most exciting Forest School sessions yet—a campfire complete with gooey, golden s’mores! With the trees swaying above us and the smell of woodsmoke drifting through the air, the children were ready for a cosy, hands‑on adventure.
After revisiting our fire‑circle rules, the children approached the seating logs safely and sensibly, showing brilliant listening skills. They learned how to keep a safe distance.
Once the fire was burning steadily, it was time for the unforgettable part: toasting marshmallows.
The children took turns carefully holding their marshmallows over the glowing embers. Some toasted them slowly to get a perfect golden brown… while others ended up with deliciously sticky, slightly charred creations (which, according to Year 2, taste even better).
With a chocolate biscuit sandwiching the warm marshmallow, every child created their very own s’more—messy, sweet, and absolutely worth it.
Thank you, Year 2, for being brilliant—keep exploring, keep wondering, and keep enjoying the magic of nature.
