Pine
Hello, I am very excited to welcome you all to Pine Class. My name is Miss Barton and I am the class teacher. I am looking forward to working with your child, supporting them with their learning, and getting to know them. In addition to myself, your child will be supported by Mrs Bamber, Mrs Lee and Mrs Dahiru.
Each week your child will be set a piece of Math’s and English homework. The children are encouraged to complete their homework independently and return it to school on Thursday.
If your child finds some of their homework particularly difficult, please don’t hesitate to ask me for clarification or write me a note on their homework. Along with their homework, your child will receive a list of spellings which will be tested on a Friday. Later on in the autumn term your child will also receive times tables to learn. Practicing their times tables and spelling is important to support your child’s progression in English and Mathematics. Please encourage your child to revise their spellings and times tables daily.
In Year 3, your child will continue to receive a home reading book. Please encourage your child to read often and discuss the characters, settings, and language choices found inside the book with them. Before returning the book to school, please sign and comment in their reading journals about their progression and any discussions you have shared with your child. The children also need to complete a reading review about the book.
P.E lessons will take place on a Monday for Year 3. On Monday’s your child should come into school in their P.E kit. They do not need to keep their P.E kit in school. To ensure the safety of your child please ensure that long hair is tied back and any jewellery is removed before coming into school. If your child requires an inhaler please send it into class labelled with your child’s name and the dosage required.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you all. If you have any questions for concerns please do not hesitate to come and speak to me after school.
