We have had another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 1 and Year 2!

Mathematics

In Maths, we have been developing our addition skills by solving number problems using a range of practical strategies. The children have been using their fingers to help count and represent numbers, as well as practising finding answers using number lines. We have been encouraging the children to explain their thinking and show different ways of solving addition problems, helping them to build confidence and fluency with number facts.

English

Our English learning has continued to focus on the wonderful story The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. The children have enjoyed acting out different parts of the story, bringing the characters and events to life through role play. This has helped them to develop their understanding of the text while building confidence in speaking and listening. We have also been describing the characters, thinking carefully about their appearance, feelings and actions, and using interesting vocabulary to make our descriptions more detailed.

Geography

In Geography, we have been learning about maps and globes. The children explored how maps help us find places and how globes represent our world. We discussed different features that can be found on maps and began to think about where we live in relation to other places. The children showed great curiosity and enjoyed discovering more about the world around them.

Well done to all the children for their fantastic effort and enthusiasm this week. We are very proud of the progress they are making and look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!
