This week in Saplings we have been enjoying the story Mrs Rainbow by Neil Griffiths. We loved exploring the different colours in the story and thinking about where we can find colours in our own homes. We looked at each room in Mrs Rainbow’s house and found colours that matched the rooms. We talked about what the colours remind us of and how they make us feel. Some colours made us feel happy and excited, while others made us feel calm and peaceful.
As we thought more about the story, we learnt that the moral of Mrs Rainbow is that true happiness, colour and our uniqueness should be celebrated. We talked about how everyone is special and unique, and how our differences make our class a wonderful place to learn and play.
We have also been learning about our homes and the special places where we live. We enjoyed sharing our ideas and talking about the different colours we can see around us every day. This helped us to develop our language and communication skills by expressing our thoughts, ideas and feelings about the colours we discovered.
In RE, we have been learning all about baptism. We found out what happens during a baptism, what people wear and do, and why it is such a special celebration for Christians. We loved looking at photographs of our friends’ baptisms and talking about the special memories they shared with us.
building and spotted lots of interesting features. We were excited to find the font and remembered that this is where the water used in baptism is kept. Our visit helped us to understand more about what happens during a baptism and why it is important. This learning supports the children's understanding of the world learning about the beliefs, traditions and places that are important to different people in our community.
We have had a wonderful week of learning, exploring colours, thinking about our homes and discovering more about Baptism. We are very proud of the thoughtful discussions the children have had and the curiosity they have shown throughout the week. Well done, Saplings! 🌈🏠⛪
