This week in Saplings, we have been exploring the signs that autumn is slowly beginning to creep into the world around us. As part of our learning, we enjoyed investigating the school grounds, moving in lots of different ways while developing our understanding of positional language and prepositions. We jumped in puddles, rolled down the hill, climbed over and under obstacles, and talked about where we were moving and exploring. This active learning helped us build both our physical development and communication skills.

During our outdoor adventures, we noticed how the changing season is affecting the trees and plants around us. We continued to care for our willow tunnel, carefully removing dead branches and replacing them with new ones to help it grow and thrive. These experiences encouraged us to think about change in the natural world and how we can look after our environment.

We also explored changes that happen every day, discussing how the world changes from day to night and watching a sunrise in another country. To reflect our learning creatively, the children experimented with watercolour techniques and created beautiful artwork inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s Sunrise painting. They carefully mixed colours and explored how light changes across the sky, producing some wonderful pieces of art that captured the beauty of the changing world around us.

What a fantastic week of exploring, observing and creating! 🌅🍂🎨
