What a fantastic first full week we have had in Year 6! The children have settled brilliantly into their new classroom routines and have shown a positive attitude towards their learning.

In RE, we have been reflecting on our school mission statement and discussing what it means to live out our values each day. The children thought carefully about the qualities and goals that are important to them and began designing their own personal mission statements for the year ahead. It was wonderful to see them setting ambitious targets and considering how they can make a positive difference to our school community.

In Science, we launched our exciting new topic: Evolution and Inheritance. To begin our learning journey, we explored the chronology of life on Earth, investigating how life has changed over millions of years. The children were fascinated by the vast timescales involved and enjoyed discussing key events in the history of our planet. We are looking forward to learning more about how living things have adapted and evolved over time.

In Maths, we have started revisiting and developing our understanding of place value, ensuring that we have strong foundations for the year ahead. The children have demonstrated excellent knowledge and reasoning skills. Next week, we will be exploring number in greater depth as we continue to build confidence and fluency in our mathematical thinking.

I am incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm and maturity the children have shown this week. I look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!

Have a lovely weekend with your families,

Mr Parkinson
