Year 4 had a fantastic start to Forest School this week.
We began by recapping our Forest School rules, talking together about how to stay safe, look after one another, and respect the natural environment. The children showed a good understanding and were keen to share why these rules are important when learning outside.
The children then helped to tidy up the bedding planters, carrying out some weeding and general maintenance. They worked sensibly and took pride in caring for the area, showing responsibility and respect for their surroundings.
After this, the class was split into small groups and given an exciting challenge: to design a den that they would like to build over the coming weeks. Working together, the children discussed their ideas, thought carefully about structure and materials, and shared roles within their groups. There was lots of great teamwork, communication and creative thinking on show.
We’re really looking forward to seeing their ideas come to life over the next few weeks and watching their confidence, independence and problem‑solving skills grow as they work outdoors.
A great first session, Year 4 — well done!
