What an excellent morning we have had at Alston Observatory.
When we arrived, we got the chance to look at the planetarium. We learned all about solar eclipses, planets, stars and galaxies. We were amazed at how huge our Universe is.
It was interesting to see the difference in sizes between the planets.
We went out to look at the different telescopes they have and how they work. The old one used glass for their images and the newer one is now all on the computer. We didn’t know that there used to be an observatory where the football ground is now and which was later moved to Moor Park!
Please do contact the observatory if you are interested in going at night to see the telescopes in action.
