We’ve all been settling into our new routines and are really enjoying being back in Elder Class. Everyone is getting used to the timetable and our classroom rules, and it’s been lovely to see so many smiling faces ready to learn.
English
In English this week, we’ve been exploring fronted adverbials, especially those that tell us when something happens. It’s been fun adding them to our sentences to make our writing more interesting. We’ve also carried on reading The Firemaker’s Daughter. We spent time thinking about how Lila and Lalchland are feeling in Chapter 1, imagining their thoughts and emotions, then creating our very own diary entries. Then, we dived into Chapter 2 and can’t wait to keep discovering more about their adventures next week!
Maths
Maths has been exciting as we’ve learned all about place value and the value of each digit in numbers up to 10,000. We’ve been partitioning numbers in different ways and using our manipulatives to make the numbers ourselves. It’s been great seeing everyone enjoy working with the equipment and explaining how the numbers are made.
Keyboards
We were thrilled to start our keyboard lessons with Mrs Calman this week! We’ve been learning all about tonality and how different notes sound together. It’s been so much fun trying out new skills, and we’re really looking forward to performing what we’ve learned for our parents at the end of term.
It’s been a super week, and everyone in Elder Class should be proud of how hard they’ve worked.
We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr Cummings, Mrs Brennan and Mrs Romero
