As we come to the end of our Year 1 adventure, I just wanted to say the biggest thank you to each and every one of you. This year has genuinely been one of my favourite years in teaching and that’s completely down to you. You’ve been such a kind, hardworking and fun class, and I’ve loved coming into school each day (…most days…)  to see your smiling faces and hear your brilliant ideas.

You’ve amazed me with how much you’ve grown – not just in your reading, writing and maths, but in the way you’ve looked after each other, tried your best, and become such fantastic learners.

Now it’s time for a well-earned rest! I hope you all have a wonderful summer filled with fun, laughter and a bit of sunshine. To help you get started, I’ve made a little KS1 Summer Bucket List – how many of these can you tick off?

✅ Build a den
✅ Go on a bug hunt
✅ Have a teddy bears’ picnic
✅ Make a nature collage
✅ Read a book in the shade
✅ Bake something yummy
✅ Cloud watching
✅ Paint a summer picture
✅ Water play!
✅ Send a postcard
✅ Visit the library
✅ Dance to your favourite songs
✅ Try a new food
✅ Plant something
✅ Go for a bike or scooter ride
✅ Treasure hunt
✅ Wash the car or your bike
✅ Make up a story
✅ Watch the sunset
✅ Do something kind for someone

And finally… good luck in Year 2!
I know you’re going to be amazing. Keep being your brilliant, curious and kind-hearted selves.

Have a lovely summer, Hazel Class – I’ll miss you!
