What a fantastic and busy week it has been in Hazel Class! The children have been working incredibly hard, embracing new learning opportunities, and enjoying plenty of fun activities along the way. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this week.
Quiz Week
This week, the children showed real focus and maturity as they completed their reading and maths quizzes set by Mr. Cummings. We were so impressed with their positive attitudes and the way they concentrated, taking their time to do their very best.
To help keep everyone feeling relaxed and refreshed, we built in plenty of movement breaks throughout the day. The children loved running around the track, stretching their legs, and getting some fresh air before returning to their work with renewed energy. It was fantastic to see them tackling their quizzes with such confidence and enthusiasm—we are incredibly proud of them!
Forest School – Fires, Fun, and S’mores!
Forest School was a real highlight this week as the children learned how to safely build and light a fire. They listened carefully as we discussed fire safety and the importance of being responsible around flames.
Of course, no campfire is complete without a treat! The children had the chance to toast marshmallows over the fire and create their own delicious s’mores using biscuits. They loved this hands-on experience, and for many, it was the highlight of their week!
RE – Welcoming Jesus to Jerusalem
In RE, we explored the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem and thought about what it would have been like to witness such a special event. The children were fascinated by the idea of people laying down their coats, blankets, and palm leaves as a sign of respect and welcome.
They then engaged in some brilliant discussions, coming up with thoughtful and insightful questions they would like to ask Jesus and his disciples. To deepen their understanding, they sequenced the key events of the story, ensuring they could confidently retell what happened. It was wonderful to see them so engaged in their learning.

HRSE – The Power of Saying Sorry & Trusted Adults
This week in HRSE, we focused on the importance of saying sorry and how meaningful apologies can help to rebuild friendships. The children took part in role-play activities, acting out different scenarios and discussing how to respond when we have upset someone.
We also explored the concept of ‘trusted people’—the adults in our lives whom we can turn to for support, reassurance, and guidance. The children created beautiful artwork to represent these important individuals and shared thoughtful reflections on who they trust and why. It was a valuable and heartfelt lesson that encouraged a great deal of reflection.
What an incredible week we’ve had in Hazel Class! The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm, resilience, and kindness in all they have done. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what next week brings.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend — hopefully, the sunshine continues!
