This week, our Year 1 children had an exciting karate session with Dan and Jason – and what an action-packed time it was!

We kicked things off with some fun and energetic warm-ups to get everyone moving and ready to go. The children stretched, jumped, and wiggled their way into the session, shaking off any morning sleepiness. It was a brilliant way to prepare their bodies and minds for the challenges ahead!

Once we were warmed up, it was time to grab the punching pads and dive into practicing our punches. With Dan and Jason leading the way, the children learned how to punch with power and confidence. The instructors carefully showed them the correct techniques, ensuring every movement was strong and safe. It was amazing to see how quickly the children improved – with each punch, their confidence grew, and by the end, they were punching like pros!

Next, we moved on to blocking – a crucial skill in karate that helps protect and defend. Dan and Jason explained that blocking is just as important as punching, and the children were eager to give it a try. They practiced high blocks to protect their heads and low blocks to guard their legs – all while feeling like real karate superheroes! The children loved learning these new moves and quickly picked up on how important it is to stay focused and ready.

One of the most valuable lessons from the session was about concentration. Dan and Jason reminded us that when we’re practicing karate, it’s important to give our full attention to every move. This focus not only helps us improve but also makes us feel like true karate experts! The children took this message to heart, and you could see their determination shining through as they practiced.

By the end of the session, there were smiles all around! The children were incredibly proud of what they had achieved in such a short time. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and how much they had learned.

We can’t wait for more karate sessions with Dan and Jason – if this lesson was anything to go by, there’s plenty more fun (and learning) to come!
