Year 4 had a brilliant Forest School session this week, focusing on caring for wildlife.

The children worked in small groups to create natural bug homes using materials they could find around the Forest School area, such as sticks, leaves and bark. Before starting, we talked about which materials would be best and why.

The groups worked cooperatively, sharing ideas and listening to one another as they designed and built their bug homes. They showed great teamwork, creativity and problem‑solving skills, carefully arranging materials to create welcoming spaces for insects.

This activity helped the children to learn more about minibeasts and the importance of protecting living things, while also encouraging respect for the natural environment. The finished bug homes were fantastic, and the children were very proud of what they had created.

One group also chose to create their den and proudly shared it with the rest of the class. They explained their design and talked about how they worked together, giving everyone a chance to see their ideas in action and celebrate their teamwork.

A lovely Forest School session with lots of hands‑on learning and enthusiasm from Year 4!
