We have been learning all about the animals in the polar regions. We have had some very cold days where we have been able to think about what it would be like somewhere even colder than England. When looking at signs of winter here in Preston we wondered if it was the same in Antarctica. We explored where we were on the map and where Antarctica is thinking if it would take us a long time to get there.
We heard a story about Pipkin penguin and his challenge to find out how big a million is. We wondered if we could find a million penguins. Alas, we only found 273! We had great fun exploring numbers big and small and have learnt we need more to have a bigger quantity. We made and found all the penguins around our classroom then learnt about what they needed to eat. I wonder if you can find a million of anything? If you can please send us a picture for our book.
Next week we are starting to learn about animals from hotter climates. I hope it brings us some warmer weather!
